The Beehive

***
For years and years I've lived my life
Buzzing around the large beehive
Buzzing around, looking at what's within
buzzing around, not wanting to go in
Looking around me, seeing bees fly
Everything I saw, made my soul cry
A long time ago a bee brought in a liquid, as sweet as honey
A liquid that seemed healthy for a bee
This new stuff attracted other bees to the little beast
Drinking this new stuff made life a real feast
So all they did was to drink, only not to get bored
Not bringing the stuff where it was meant to be stored
But all was not what it seems
The liquid soon affected their dreams
and so it came that step by step
More and more bees didn't come back from what appeared to be a beetrap

Looking around me I just didn't find a place to fit in
One group was in my opinion too far obsessed with working
The other group I saw was working itself slowly into extinction
Nowhere I saw bees for which I felt compassion
I flew around the hive, just to see
If threre were other bees that lived their lives just as free
But nearly all bees were gone
And I was about the only one

Only few bees decided not to drink the filthy stuff
They knew that nectar was more than enough
The other group thought that they were crazy
not seeing that is was them who got lazy
The group was now torn in two;
"I don't want to have to deal with you"

My lonelyness together
with seeing that they worked with pleasure
Slowly gave me compassion for the bees that still served their Queen
Their lives were happier than I had ever seen
So I flew at a little group of those bees to see if I wanted to get in
My observations seemed wrong because even through the hard work they kept on smiling
I joined the group and found myself working even harder than some others of the crew
Still wondering if what I used to do alone I still could do among the friends that I had new
Later on I got to know that many other bees had flown alone around the hive
Finally giving to that they needed their Queen to give meaning to their life
